I have lots of great memories of my hometown's downtown area. I used to take dance lessons there in a pink building across from Italian Village Pizza where the pizza guys knew our order. I ran around with friends in high school on Saturday nights when they closed the area by the river to traffic and bands would play. Fireworks and food and independent films. Now I can add "favorite photo locations" to the list.
Thanks Diane and Kevin with trusting me to make memories of this exciting, scary time in your lives. You will be great parents and I can't wait to meet your little boy!
Read MoreCollege senior still counts as senior portraits, right? Emily is allllmost finished with her time at Murray State. Music students have to perform a senior recital as part of the requirements for graduation and they also have to advertise it themselves to get people to come. Emily mentioned that she needed to take some photos for her poster so I asked if she'd let me take them for her and I was so happy she said yes!
It's pretty non-traditional for students to show off their recital outfits before the show itself (I think it's supposed to be pretty top secret?) but I convinced her to wear her gorgeous recital gown to our photo session anyway. What woman doesn't love a dress with POCKETS?

Honestly, I want to hate it because it's so popular and I typically don't like to be the same as everyone else but something about the pumpkin patches, leaves, slightly cooler temperatures (where are you 60s and 70s?), Halloween, Homecoming, etc. etc. and I get all happy.

I've shot photos of Hazel there before but I haven't had a family agree to go out there with me yet even though I've floated it more than once. Enter Tracy, the matriarch of this group of guys, who said "I'm open to anything you think would work well." Thanks for trusting me, Tracy!
Read MoreAnother weekend, another wedding with Makenzie! I was so excited for this when she mentioned it was at the Murray Women's Club - it's my favorite venue in town and very conveniently located one block from my house. In the summer we can hear the music from the DJs most Saturday nights. Then she told me it was going to be really cute with lots of vintage and handmade touches - also great. And the bride was wearing a tea-length dress - squee! Then when she sent me their engagement photos, it was even better because I realized I knew the couple through some mutual friends who happened to be a bridesmaid and groomsmen in the wedding.
